What SoleTax is
SoleTax is the app that makes Making Tax Digital effortless for UK sole traders: every receipt categorised for you, every business mile claimed, quotes and invoices out in a minute, and you always know the tax to set aside. Anything you're unsure of, Ask SoleTax answers in plain English: an AI intelligence layer across everything you've recorded.
It's built for one person: the UK sole trader who is brilliant at their trade and has better things to do than admin. Builders, electricians, plumbers, photographers, designers, personal trainers. If you live on your phone and HMRC's new quarterly rules are heading your way, SoleTax is for you.
The company
SoleTax is made by Soletax Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17318329, registered office 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA. Founded in 2026 by Jamie Hamilton.
How we work
Two rules run through everything we build.
Compliance first. Every figure and rule in SoleTax is verified verbatim against HMRC primary sources. Every page shows when it was last checked.
Information, not advice. SoleTax tells you what the published rules say, applied to your own records. What you should do about it is between you and your accountant.
Where we are
SoleTax is currently in beta on iPhone, with the first public wave opening late July 2026. You can request a spot. The App Store launch follows in September 2026. What's live, what's building and everything shipped so far is on the roadmap.
